Iconic Music & Media handles advertising, press and publicity for Fairport's Cropredy Convention. We are delighted to announce that the festival has sold all the available tickets a full week before it opens. Fans who do not have tickets are being warned not to turn up on the off-chance of getting in.
The three-day outdoor festival of rock, pop and acoustic music takes place on 9, 10, 11 August 2007. This is the first time the event has sold out for some years. The high demand for tickets is due to an exceptionally attractive line-up of acts, the celebration of Fairport's fortieth anniversary as a band, and this year's increased advertising and publicity.
"We really hate to disappoint fans," says Festival Director Gareth Williams. "However, the safety and comfort of festival-goers is always Fairport's paramount concern: besides, the site capacity is limited by the premises license. If anyone without a concert ticket is thinking of coming along in the hope of getting in, they will be wasting their journey."
Because of the demand, touts may attempt to sell forged tickets or fake entry wristbands. "If anyone offers you a ticket or wristband, don't be fooled," says Gareth. "Report them immediately to our security staff at the festival entrances."
Tickets are still available for the famous pre-Cropredy 'warm-up' concerts, however. This year, Fairport will play on 5, 6, and 7 August at Woodford Halse Social Club, a few miles north of Cropredy. Ashley Hutchings Rainbow Chasers and Jacqui McShee's Pentangle will play at the same venue on 8 August. Tickets are available at the venue each evening, priced £20.
Next year, Fairport's Cropredy Convention 2008 will take place on 7, 8, 9 August 2008. For more information visit the Fairport website.
